YOUR MOMENTS⏳ | MY PASSION 📸

Sometimes the best stories are the ones you never planned to find.

Last year, while helping my mom home from a medical procedure, I passed the skate park just off the bypass in Charlottesville, Virginia. I'd driven by it before, but this time curiosity won. I pulled over, grabbed my camera, and started talking with a few of the skaters.

That's when I met Shane.

Originally from California, Shane and his fiancée were deciding where to begin the next chapter of their lives. They wanted a place where they could build a future, buy a home, and eventually raise a family.

So how did they choose Charlottesville?

A coin flip.

It sounds almost too simple, but sometimes life changes on the smallest decisions.

As we talked and I photographed him, I couldn't help but think about the parallels between skateboarding and life. Both require balance. Both demand commitment. And every so often, they ask you to trust yourself enough to take the leap.

I don't know what the future holds for Shane and his family.

But I do know this.

Some of the best stories begin with a little curiosity... and a leap of faith.

Through My Lens

I've learned that remarkable stories are everywhere. Sometimes all it takes is pulling over, introducing yourself, and being curious enough to ask, "What's your story?"
